As the state moves to Phase III of the COVID re-opening plan, Virginia Cooperative Extension and 4-H are resuming some in-person programming and services will continue to provide contactless and distance-based methods, such as using drop boxes for samples and pickup, phones, and virtual delivery of educational programming.

This website will provide current information on local office hours, programming, and more. We look forward continuing to serve our community.

Suffolk VCE 4-H Volunteers are required to undergo background screening.  Volunteer screening supports the process of educating volunteer applicants about Virginia Cooperative Extension programs and creates the opportunity to allow faculty and staff to learn more about the interests of the volunteer applicant.  The screening process also helps to protect the well-being of Virginia Cooperative Extension programs, its participants, and volunteers.  Please note that there is a $9.95 processing fee for the background screening.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Suffolk VCE office at 757-514-4331 Monday-Friday 8:30-5:00pm

Welcome to the 2020-2021 4-H year!  Those who are interested in participating and/or volunteering in one (or more) of the Suffolk 4-H Community Clubs, can enroll online by visiting the 4-H Online website at https://v2.4honline.com

In-Person Private Pesticide Recertification

The City of Suffolk will be collaborating with Isle of Wight this year to host a combined private applicator license recertification course.  The reason for this collaboration stems from VCE's current COVID-19 restrictions and will allow us to comply with social distancing guidelines.  This event will be held at the Smithfield Center with two separate options on December 14th from 8:30am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-4:00pm.  Call the Isle of Wight office at 757-365-6261 to register and indicate which session you will be attending.  PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED!!!!

Online Private Pesticide Recertification

Virginia Tech Pesticide Programs has put together an online option to recertify categories 90 and 91.  Reach out to Elizabeth Pittman here at the office (757-514-4337) for more information and to get yourself registered if you do not plan to (or can't) attend any in-person recertification classes that are being held this recertification season.

2020 Pest Management Guides are now available online!  We have a copy of almost all of them in the office if you would prefer to look over one of them that way.  We can arrange for one to be dropped off/loaned out.  All that we ask is that it be returned within a week so that others can have a chance to look at them.  We have also included the link to the pdf versions of the guides below.
